The Artist's Palette - an ever-changing landscape

An Ever-changing Landscape

By Julianne St. Clair © 2015

The artist’s palette, so often forgotten

Remnants of visions captured on linen and cotton

Its surface aflame with fires of birth

It yields and transforms, never knowing it’s worth

The turbulent waves of cerulean hues

Crash upon shores of cadmium blues

While towering peaks of alizarin crimson

Bend and wane over planes that glisten

Viridian valleys and fields of burnt umber

Grow upon hills, abandoned to slumber

Canyons and fissures formed by brush and bristle

An ever-changing landscape, a surviving epistle

But when the dream is won,

When the pigments have diminished

All is left behind when the artist has finished
